Biomechanical Analysis and Performance Care

Better Performance – Injury Prevention!

The Biomechanical Analysis Process

Whether you want us to analysis your gait because of a chronic injury, or you want us to improve your sports performance the process is very similar. First, we would do an orthopedic and neurological examination to rule out any underlying problems.  Then we would observe your gait, or have you performed your particular sport. Often, we will also film these actions so that we can slow down your movements.  This provides us with great information so that we can relate a particular dysfunction to specific anatomical structures.

For example, research has shown us exactly which anatomical structures are involved in performing each aspect of a golf swing. This is extremely valuable information for the practitioner, especially when we are trying to determine which anatomical structures are causing the inefficiencies in our patient’s golf swing.

Then we can make recommendations of what areas need to be addressed and what exercise are needed to overcome these biomechanical problems.

If you would like to learn some of the specific details about the logic of our analysis check out one Dr. Abelson blog on this subject.
